Product details
The FRITZ!Box 6850 LTE operates on ten LTE (4G) and three UMTS (3G) bands. Depending on the availability of the signal, it flexibly switches between the LTE and UMTS networks, ensuring users always benefit from optimal speeds. The FRITZ!Box 6850 LTE supports roaming for browsing in all mobile networks, and external mobile antennas can be connected if needed. The intelligent alignment assistance helps users determine the best location and orientation for the mobile antennas. A unique feature is the ability to selectively choose the mobile bands.

Best choice for the discerning.
The slightly larger and more expensive Fritzbox 6890 LTE (RRP: 349 euros) has AVM the smaller 6850 LTE (RRP: 200 euros) to the side. It comes with slightly reduced Wi-Fi performance (Wi-Fi5 with 2x2 MIMO and max. 866 MBit\/s), which is still quite sufficient for distributing LTE Cat 4 (150\/50 MBit\/s)...

The somewhat larger and more expensive Fritzbox 6890 LTE (RRP: 349 euros) has been joined by the smaller 6850 LTE (RRP: 200 euros). It competes with somewhat reduced WLAN performance (Wi-Fi 5 with 2x2 MIMO and max. 866 Mbps), which is still completely sufficient for distributing LTE Cat 4 (150/50 Mbps)...
The FRITZ!Box 6850 LTE uses the LTE mobile network to establish an Internet connection, which means that a transmission speed of up to 150 Mbit/s can be achieved. If no LTE-capable network is available, the router uses the slower HSPA+ radio standard.

- Price/performance ratio
- Scope of delivery
- Only one USB socket
With the new 6850 LTE router, manufacturer AVM offers a successful balance of price, performance and features. The strong network solution would have benefited from a second USB socket. But even so, we give it a thumbs up.
The Fritz Box 6890 LTE is the top model for LTE internet at home: it is hardly inferior to the powerful 7590 and also goes online via DSL. Owners of a large house are at the right address here. Smaller households should be satisfied with the 6850, despite its slower speed and more limited features. The 6820, with its weak WLAN and meagre features, is at best suitable for a holiday flat.
