The ZyXEL GS-105S v2 IPTV Gigabit desktop switch is designed for the distribution of Internet TV in the home network. Thanks to the energy-saving concept, the switch consumes less than 5 watts of power and thus meets the requirements of an environmentally conscious IT infrastructure.
The GS-105S v2 IPTV has a dedicated uplink port, which is connected to the Internet router. The remaining four Gigabit ports can be used to connect set-top boxes, game consoles and Smart TVs thanks to IGMP Snooping v1/v2 support. This means that the multicast data generated by Internet TV can be distributed without slowing down other components such as WLAN APs. With active IGMP snooping, a switch connected between the firewall and the set-top box listens in and learns on which ports the multicast data is needed.
Uninvolved connections are spared from the unnecessary delivery of the not inconsiderable amounts of data.
The fanless switch is characterised by a very compact mass.
The air cooling of this desktop model is realized with convection to avoid moving parts as well as disturbing noise generated by fans.
