Our little test favourite is the only one to impress with the additional features of chip card and CD functions as well as an extra waste bin, all at an excellent value for money. However, the device is a little noisy and the cutting quality could be finer.

When choosing a document shredder, it all depends on what you want to destroy. If you only need to shred documents and credit cards occasionally, but also want to destroy CDs and DVDs, the low-cost model from Hama is a good choice. In the mid-price segment - with models from Peach, HP, Leitz and Fellowes - things get more complicated...
