Product details
The IS-3 tank was publicly presented for the first time during the Victory Parade on September 7, 1945, in Berlin. This powerful heavy tank, produced since April 1945, was intended to instill fear in the Western Allies. Weighing over 45 tons, it featured heavily sloped armor plates that improved bullet deflection. It was equipped with the 122-mm D-25T gun known from the IS-2 tank. Despite its impressive weight, the IS-3 was relatively mobile thanks to its W-11 diesel engine.
The IS-3 tank made from building blocks is designed at a scale of 1:28 and imitates the highly characteristic rounded shapes of its original. The model, consisting of over 1,100 elements, measures 35.5 cm in length when built. Beneath the removable turret with basket, there are reproduced interior elements. A replica of the W-11 tank engine can be placed under the maintenance hatch. The turret also features building blocks with printed periscopes. The track drive functions when the tank is moved. The turret rotates, and the barrel elevates and lowers. The set includes a figure of a Soviet tank driver in a characteristic navy blue uniform.
The real IS-3 tank was developed in response to German heavy tanks. The building block model looks great on a shelf next to the largest German and American vehicles from the COBI Historical Collection. Build history brick by brick.
