Product details
At the outbreak of World War II, England was poorly prepared for the supply of technical war equipment. In the field of motorcycles, which were primarily used for communication between combat units, civilian models were adapted with minor changes (military paint, additional mounting frames for saddlebags).
These motorcycle messengers became famous as DR "Dispatch Riders." Triumph quickly developed the military bike 3HW from the civilian model "Tiger 80," featuring an overhead valve engine and a parallelogram fork. They were deployed shortly at all fronts where British troops fought, in Europe, Africa, and Asia. After the end of World War II, many allied nations were equipped with British war materials, including Italy and Greece, which received a number of Triumphs. These machines remained in service for many years due to their reliability and robustness.
