Cheerfully, Habbi hops through the forest, stuffing treasures into his cheek pouches: a snail shell, a bird feather, a dragonfly wing. Suddenly, he collides with a wolf, the greatest enemy of ground squirrels. But instead of attacking him, the wolf merely blinks at him weakly. He appears to be seriously injured, and against all reason, Habbi begins to feed him daily. Gradually, the two become friends, until their friendship is put to a severe test.
