In 1997 the anonymous notebook, which carried sketches and stories from many artists and intellectuals, was revived by a Milanese editor. The name was given by the British writer Bruce Chatwin. He preferred these simple, black notebooks of the French paper manufactory for his work and affectionately called them Moleskin.
