Full-frame sensor and Dual Pixel AF for the best performance
The new 30.4Mpx full-frame CMOS sensor particularly impresses us with a wide dynamic range that, in combination with the new Digic 6+ processor, delivers the best image quality. The improved low-light performance of ISO 100-32000 also contributes to better shots. Dual Pixel AF provides fast focusing and is particularly effective in video mode. It is easily activated via the touch screen. According to Canon, autofocus is also fast and progressive in LiveView mode. The camera can be focused up to f/8. And that's not all.
4K video and 41 cross-type AF collimators
4K video is finally possible with up to 30p. There's also a special gimmick: you can shoot 4K video and save each sequence as a superbly detailed 8.8-megapixel still. Unfortunately, 4K videos arrive with a crop factor of around 1.74. The camera can shoot continuously at 7 frames per second (max, 21 RAW images in a single burst). The improved autofocus and its greater number of collimators - 61 including 41 cross-type and wider vertical extension - add to the high image quality and the pleasure of photography.

Easy to use plus WiFi and GPS
With WiFi, GPS, Playback, touch focus and the new Dual Pixel RAW format, it's even easier to use. Dual Pixel RAW recordings allow you to slightly correct the focus area during processing, off-centre bokeh and reduce ghosting. Touch Focus makes the task even easier by simply selecting the zone on the touch screen. With WiFi and built-in GPS, you can record location and time data and consult it at any time. What's more, WiFi lets you control the entire 5D Mark IV (all settings and even an image preview are possible) via a smartphone app. Two slots for CF and SD cards make your data even more secure, as you can save it on both cards. Tip: for more memory, save your RAW files on the CF card and your JPEGs on the SD card.
Two compatible lenses are also on the way
The two new lenses will normally be available from November. The new 16-35mm f/2.8 is even more dust and splash resistant, making it still an excellent partner for travel. For the 24-105mm, the stabilisation and with it the image quality have been significantly improved. In addition, the robustness of both lenses has been particularly closely monitored.
