Samsung Galaxy A50 tested: The affordable Galaxy S10
by Jan Johannsen
During the day, almost all smartphone cameras take good photos. As soon as it gets dark, this is no longer the case. Only a few still manage it. A night mode for the camera, which the Galaxy A70 now has, is helpful here.
Samsung is upgrading its mid-range Galaxy A70 smartphone with the latest software update. Its camera can now take pictures with the Galaxy S10's night mode, reports the blog xda-developers.
The night mode is included in the update, which also brings the July 2019 security updates to the A70. However, as Samsung is not releasing the new software for all devices at the same time, it may take some time before you see the update automatically on your smartphone.
The Galaxy S10 was the first smartphone on which Samsung installed a night mode for the camera. It wasn't long before it was also available on its predecessor, the Galaxy S9. This was followed in June 2019 by the Galaxy A50, which is cheaper than the A70. It was therefore only a matter of time before the A70 followed.
Special night modes have been an important function since the Huawei P20 Pro at the latest, allowing you to take good photos with a smartphone in low light conditions. In most cases, a longer exposure time means the photo is better lit and contains more details. The software in the background compensates for slight movements of the hand during the long exposure. Due to the long exposure time, the shooting mode is not suitable for moving subjects.
The update was first released by Samsung in India. The manufacturer has not revealed when it will be available in Europe. If it is available on your A70, please let us know in the comments.
When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
