The RTX 4070 Ti Super is the second of three RTX 40 refreshes releasing this month. First reviews report up to 10 per cent more frames per second for the graphics card.

The RTX 4070 Ti Super has ten per cent more shader units compared to the RTX 4070 Ti. This upgrade transfers one-to-one to the performance, as reviews show. Here are some examples of the most important findings from tests conducted by Igor’s Lab and Techpowerup.

Igor’s Lab

The RTX 4070 Ti is a good upper mid-range graphics card, writes Igor Wallossek from Igor’s Lab. In his gaming tests, the card achieves six per cent more frames per second in 1440p resolution and ten per cent more at 2160p than the non-Super version.

The new card also leaves the old one behind in terms of efficiency. It feels most comfortable at 1440p with maximum details. According to Wallossek, the card is also suitable for gaming in 2160p resolution thanks to upscaling technologies. The larger 16 gigabytes of graphics memory makes the card future-proof.

Only the outdated DisplayPort connection and competition from AMD speak against the RTX 4070 Ti Super. The Radeon RX 7900 XT is currently almost up to 200 euros cheaper, with similar performance in classic Rasterizer games.

Techpowerup

In terms of frames per second, reviewer W1zzard from Techpowerup comes to a similar conclusion as Wallossek: seven per cent more frames per second in 1440p resolution and ten per cent more at 2160p than the RTX 4070 Ti. In classic Rasterizer games, the card is still three per cent behind the RX 7900 XT. Compared to the flagship from the last generation, the RTX 3090 Ti, the RTX 4070 Ti Super delivers four per cent more frames per second.

According to W1zzard, the storage expansion makes sense, especially looking into the future. Across more than 25 test games, however, 16 gigabytes is only used in The Last of Us at 2160p and Alan Wake 2 with ray tracing and 2160p.

According to W1zzard, the RTX 4070 Ti Super offers an average of 22 per cent more frames per second than AMD’s RX 7900 XT in ray tracing games. During gaming, the card draws up to 280 watts. This is very efficient, but not a big difference to the RTX 4070 Ti.

The RTX 4070 Ti Super goes on sale on January 17 at 3 p.m. I’ll list the available models here as soon as possible.
