New version: Sonos announces the Roam SL

Sonos announces the Roam SL. The new version of the Roam speaker comes without a microphone - that is, without a voice assistant.
Like its predecessor, the new Roam SL is a multi-room capable Bluetooth speaker. Only the microphone to call up the voice assistants is no longer included in the SL version. Otherwise, all functions remain the same. Both Roam speakers can be integrated into an existing network and play stereo from two devices if required.
The original Roams version is the second mobile Bluetooth speaker from Sonos. First there was the Sonos Move.
The news that Sonos is doing away with the microphone comes as if Sonos had listened to me. And, of course, not because Sonos had already released an SL version of the One speaker as well. When I tested the then-new Roam a little less than a year ago, I was bothered by the fact that as soon as the microphone is on, battery life drops precipitously. That's guaranteed not to happen with the new SL model.
The Roam should be available from March 15, and can be pre-ordered now. The price for Switzerland is 199 francs, and the SL version costs 179 euros in Germany.

Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
