Now with us: the hyped third volume "Onyx Storm" of the "Flammengeküsst" book series
"Onyx Storm" has topped the bestseller lists since its publication in January. The book continues the story of the protagonist Violet Sorrengail.
The enthusiasm of fantasy readers for Rebecca Yarros' "Empyrean" book series (in German: "Flammengeküsst") knows no bounds when it comes to the third volume. After "Fourth Wing" and the in December 2023 already heavily hyped "Iron Flame was published around a year after the second instalment "Onyx Storm". We have the German and English editions in our range.
"Onyx Storm" quickly took first place on the New York Times bestseller list. The two previous volumes also experienced a further boost as a result, reaching third and fourth place on the list.

The book series belongs strictly speaking to the "romance fantasy" genre. This is a very romance-heavy form of fantasy.
What is the "Flammengeküsst" book series about?
I haven't read the books myself yet. So I can only give you what the general descriptions say. Political intrigue, magic and great battles are said to characterise the world of Empyrean. The story revolves around the young Violet Sorrengail, who undergoes brutal combat training at a dragon rider academy. In the course of the story, Violet learns secrets about the enemy Venin - humans who have cast forbidden magic and transformed themselves into malevolent beings.
"Onyx Storm" continues the story of Violet Sorrengail. After the events of "Iron Flame", the kingdoms of Navarre and Poromiel face an existential threat from the Venin. Violet and her lover set off with their dragons on a dangerous journey to the south in search of new allies.
Two more volumes of the series are expected to be published in 2027 and 2029, which will also be realised as a series.
