"Prison Architect 2" will be released at the end of March this year

After more than eight years, the prison construction game "Prison Architect" is getting a sequel - with 3D graphics and smarter inmates.
Exactly 90 per cent positive Steam reviews with more than 54,000 ratings: The bustling prison simulation "Prison Architect" is and was an absolute indie hit. Even before its official release in October 2015, the game sold more than 1.25 million copies in Early Access and raised more than 19 million US dollars. Now Double Eleven, the development studio behind the game, has announced a sequel on X. And it will have a 3D look. This makes it clear at first glance that the game really is a further development. And the best news is yet to come: you won't have to wait long for the release. "Prison Architect 2" is due to be released on Steam, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on 26 March 2024.
What's new?
The 3D graphics will offer some new possibilities: For example, you'll be able to build your prison on multiple floors in the future and get new building tools. In general, Double Eleven promises an in-depth simulation, more control for the player and a behaviour system for the prisoners.

A new relationship system
In a new relationship system, your inmates can now become friends or enemies with each other. This affects who they hang out with, co-operate with or fight with in your prison. So you have to pay more attention to the needs of your prisoners. Every decision you make has an impact on your inmates.

Double Eleven has also adapted the career mode. Different scenarios and a world map should present you with new challenges. I am very excited. Previously, there was either a short campaign or the option to build and manage a prison without much fuss.

Are you curious and can't wait for the release? Maybe you've never played "Prison Architect" before. You can purchase the game for PC on Steam or in our shop for Playstation 4.

New graphics engine also for related games?
Another question arises: What could this step mean for other games? I'm thinking in particular of the equally popular indie game "Rimworld", which is based on the same graphics engine as "Prison Architect". Could there soon be a successor here too? There is no information on this yet. But I'll let you know as soon as I read anything about it.
Are you looking forward to the sequel to "Prison Architect"? How do you like the new graphics? Let me know in the comments.
