Gulp! Almost 4000 francs for a drone? Yes, the Typhoon H Pro Thermal doesn't come at a toy price. But that's because this multicopter is not a toy either, but is recommended for professional use with its thermal imaging camera and low light camera.
Heat imaging drones have been around for some time; the story from 2004 of how an army drone in Lucerne caught two stoners in the forest is legendary. The feature has so far been reserved for consumer drones. At competitor DJI, the thermal imaging camera has been a topic from time to time. Yes, it should come at some point.
While the market leader is doing good business with its Phantom 3 and Phantom 4, its rival Yuneec has to score points with innovative features. One of these features is a multicopter that boasts night missions and a thermal imaging camera. Product Manager Oli Stulz: "I've already had various enquiries for this professional feature. People in the building technology and agricultural sectors in particular have been hoping for a device like this for some time. So far, there have only been professional devices or nothing at all."
With the Yuneec Typhoon H Pro Thermal (also known as "CGO-ET"), there is now for the first time a flyable thermal imaging camera including a low light camera that is entering affordable territory. However, at almost 4000 francs, the price is still proud. A bit much for a sure victory in the "Versteckis". So for whom might this expenditure be worthwhile?
In addition to these unique selling points, the Typhoon H RealSense is a great multicopter that comes with all the latest features: Geofencing, return home, ultrasonic collision avoidance, tracking mode - it's all there. The flight time is 20-25 minutes, depending on the weather conditions. Everything is included with the RTF model: read the operating manual, charge the battery and fly off.
