A great pair of earphones just got better. Sennheiser brings Bluetooth Multipoint and a High-Resolution Mode to the Momentum True Wireless 3

Six months after its launch, the Momentum True Wireless 3 has received an important update: via Smart Control App from Sennheiser, you can download Bluetooth Multipoint and a Hi-Res option to the headphones. The new firmware has the version number 2.10.19 and is currently being rolled out.

Multipoint means that the headphones can maintain the Bluetooth connection to multiple devices at the same time. So if you get a team call on your laptop, you can seamlessly continue listening to music right after the call with the connection to your phone. You don't have to manually switch the connection because both devices are connected at the same time and recognise where you're playing. The Momentum True Wireless 3 supports simultaneous connection to two devices after the update.

In addition to Multipoint, the update includes a new High Resolution Sound mode. According to Sennheiser, this enables a depth of 24 bits and a sampling rate of 96 kilohertz. When connected to an audio source that is also based on the aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec, the mode increases the bit rate to up to 420 kilobits per second.

The new mode can be activated in the app (from version 4.1.5).

Sennheiser also states that the Hi-Res option is also used to improve the Bluetooth connection in busy places - for example on trains, where many interference frequencies can strain the connection. The improved data scaling should now also be able to be used to constantly readjust the quality of the connection.

Sony had also recently brought Multipoint via update to its earpiece models.

Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
