Sony Xperia XZ Premium - The Sony flagship tested by the camera pro
by Manuel Wenk
Sony has just unveiled the Xperia XZ1 (5.2") and Xperia XZ1 Compact (4.6") at the IFA trade fair. Sony is equipping its newcomers with its most advanced camera technology. Super Slow Motion, multi-camera mode, 3D Creator or "AR Fun" promise entertaining creations. Even more interesting for power users: The XZ1 series comes with Snapdragon 835, high-res audio and Android 8.0 on board. Discover the innovations here.
Sony smartphones combine an elegantly simple design with advanced performance and features. One of Sony Mobile's strengths is to amaze with innovative camera features. We present the latest gadgets and give you an overview of the other technical features and Android O.
The flagship Xperia XZ Premium unveiled at the MWC was the world's first smartphone with a camera capable of capturing slow-motion images at up to 960 frames per second [fps]. Since the launch in June 2017, you can find new Sony fan clips on YouTube almost every day, which publish their slow-motion recordings. One of them is even called "Slow Motion Man".
Our video blogger and camera pro Manuel Wenk also tested the Sony Xperia XZ Premium for our Community in June: .
More about this:
The XZ Premium "was" the first Sony phone with Super Slow Motion - because today Sony presented two other devices, the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, which are capable of this function. But the devices also offer a completely new camera feature...
The Xperia XZ1 line comes with a so-called "3D Creator". This can scan a face or entire head, your favourite food and (smaller) objects in four modes. The 3D images can of course be viewed in 360 degrees on a screen. But editing is probably even more fun. Test the morph function in the 3D Creator app, for example, and see what you would look like as an alien or present yourself as a 3D avatar to your Facebook community.
Do you like Snapchat? Then watch out: With the help of the 3D Creator, you can share your self-created 3D stickers, 3D wallpapers and 3D animated GIFs. You can use the Shadow app, for example, to create animated GIFs. According to Sony partners, the app is not pre-installed, but you can download it directly from the 3D Creator.
