The long-awaited successor to the EOS 5D Mark III shines with a new 30.4 MPixel full-frame sensor, 4K video and 41 AF cross-type sensors. Available now!

At the moment there are unfortunately availability bottlenecks. According to Canon, availability should be better by mid-October.

Tip: The body will be available from around September, the 24-105mm from November. To receive the body as early as possible, please select "Partial delivery" when placing your order. This way, the body will be delivered first and the lens will follow.

Full-frame sensor and dual-pixel AF for best performance

We are particularly impressed by the new 30.4 MPixel full-frame CMOS sensor with a large dynamic range, which, in combination with the new Digic 6+ processor, ensures the best image quality. The improved low-light performance thanks to ISO 100-32000 also contributes to the best articles. The Dual Pixel AF ensures smooth focus tracking, which is particularly effective in video mode and is also possible with just a tap on the touchscreen. According to Canon, the autofocus is also fast and consistent in Live View mode. It is now also possible to focus up to f/8. And that's by no means all.

4K videos and 41 cross-type sensors

Finally, in-camera 4K videos with up to 30 images per frame are possible. There is also a special gimmick here: you can take a still image of up to 8MPixel from any 4K video. Unfortunately, the 4K videos come with a crop factor of around 1.74. The increased continuous shooting function now offers you up to 7 images per second (max. 21 raw shots) and the improved autofocus, including the higher number of autofocus points - 61 including a new 41 cross-type sensors and with extended vertical coverage - also contribute to the high image quality and enthusiasm.

Easy operation plus WiFi and GPS

The operation itself is now even easier thanks to WiFi, GPS, playback function, touch focus and the new Dual Pixel Raw format. Thanks to shots in the new Dual Pixel RAW format, you can correct the focus range a little during post-processing, shift the bokeh horizontally and reduce lens reflections. The touch focus makes focussing even easier by simply controlling the focus point with the touch of a finger on the touchscreen. With the integrated WiFi and GPS, time and location data can be saved and tracked at any time. The WiFi function also allows you to control the 5D Mark IV completely (all settings and even an image preview are possible) via smartphone app. The two card slots for CF and SD increase your data security, as you can save all images on both cards. Tip: For more storage space, save your raw files on the CF card and your jpegs on the SD card.

Two new matching lenses are also coming

The two new lenses are expected to be available from November. The new 16-35mm f/2.8 is even better protected against dust and splash water, which continues to make it the perfect travel lens. The stabilisation and therefore the image quality of the 24-105mm has been significantly improved once again. Care has also been taken to ensure that both lenses are even more robust.
