The Huawei Watch Classic 2, a fine watch for men only?
On the Internet, the Huawei Watch Classic 2 is described as a watch for men. But I'm a woman and I've been testing it for two months. My conclusion? It's great for women!
You may have already seen me in our digitec shop in Zurich. I work behind the counter. I pick up your delivery from the warehouse and help you as best I can with your technical problems. If not, maybe you're reading our magazine and you've seen my wrist, because I've been testing activity trackers and smartwatches for almost a year. Thank you for your attention and your questions. I hope this article answers your main questions about the Huawei Watch 2. :-)
First things first: the Huawei Watch 2 is an eye-catcher. Ironically, more men than women think it looks great, even though I'm the one wearing it. As I'd already tested a few activity trackers because I'd asked our Senior Editor, Dominik Bärlocher, how many steps I take every day in our shop, it was time to put my first smartwatch on my wrist. I'd just bought the Huawei P10, so a daily test with the Huawei Classic 2 was in order. It lasted about two months.
There are four models of Huawei Watch 2. I opted for the Classic model and was very pleasantly surprised when I was handed it.
My first impression
The glossy, dark blue box with gold lettering is beautiful. Its contents are no less so. As well as the charging cable and two small manuals, inside I find the watch made of plastic, stainless steel and a ceramic border.
I was struck by its elegance. It's even more beautiful in person than on the pictures.

I couldn't wait to get it on my wrist. I quickly realised that despite its beautiful finish, its 50 grams make it really massive. As it is described in many forums, after all, it is a men's watch. It obviously looks enormous on a woman's slender wrist. But I think it looks good on me ;-)
Its multiple dials - it runs on Android Wear - make it very adaptable. Elegant, sporty or colourful, it appeals to everyone. It's also IP68 compliant, so it's waterproof and dustproof. I think it's really cool that I don't have to take it off to do the dishes or when I get caught in the rain. The watch can also accompany me without a problem in humid countries and during monsoons.
It has all the sports functions I've already tested on other devices, pedometer and pulsometer included. I love listening to music without having to pull out my smartphone all the time to change songs. All I have to do is use the touch screen on my wrist.
This is one of my favourite aspects!

And what about the stream of information it transmits? Appointment reminders, WhatsApp messages, email notifications, you name it. I only have to glance at my wrist to be aware of what's going on, even when I'm picking up your order from the warehouse. If you connect your watch to your smartphone during the day, the battery will easily last until the evening. Without this connection and without GPS, it drains in around 48 hours.
You can also analyse your sleep if you download a second app Sleep as Android. I only tested it one night. Why? Because, as I've already mentioned, the watch is still a bit too massive for me to sleep with. I tested this function for you and I didn't sleep well, which the application naturally told me in the morning. Thank you, I hadn't noticed!
You too can test it for a few moments
When a customer mentions my watch in shop, I detach it and hold it out for them to test. Positive reactions and good discussions guaranteed. I find the questions I'm asked and the reasons customers have for buying a smartwatch interesting.

My test is now over, which makes me a little sad, because I think the Huawei Watch looks great. But my wrist wasn't naked for very long. What did I test next? You may have already seen it in our latest video. :-)
I'd like to know what the defining aspect is for you. What should a smartwatch be able to do? What should I pay attention to in my next test? I look forward to reading your comments.

Those who know me say «That’s Melly all over». Apart from working at our Zurich store, I also test smartwatches and activity trackers – occasionally, I do this on camera.
