The new Bose QuietComfort headphones just leaked

One of the best noise-cancelling headphones is getting a successor. Bose will probably introduce a new set of headphones soon. And according to leaks, they’ll closely resemble the previous model, decked out with Active Noise Cancelling once more, as well as extended battery life.
New leaks suggest that Bose will soon introduce new headphones. The QuietComfort 45 will be strongly reminiscent of its predecessor, the Bose QuietComfort 35 II – if the sources are to be believed. QC 35 II is one of the best noise-cancelling headphones currently available.

Bose seems to have only slightly modernised its headphone design. The editors at WinFuture received pictures of the new headset in advance.

After Bose broke new ground in terms of design with the 700 Headphones, they seem to be going back to their tried and true design.
Retractable, and with buttons instead of touch control
The earpieces on the new headphones are retractable, which saves a lot of space during transport. Accordingly, the headband looks soft and the ear cups are also lightly padded going by the pictures.
Just as with the predecessor, the headphones feature button controls. They control noise cancellation and the voice assistant. Volume and playback will also be controllable via these buttons as well. There’s also a small lever on the surface of the ear cups that can be used to turn on Bluetooth. Bose doesn’t seem to have installed any touch elements.
Even the previous model was very light compared to other headsets. And that should still be the case with this leaked model – many users find lightweight headphones more comfortable, especially when worn for longer periods of time.

Strong ANC suspected
The marketing material that WinFuture got hold of doesn’t reveal how strong the built-in Active Noise Cancelling will be. However, the included noise suppression is believed to be strong, «world class», maybe.
After all, even the soon to be four year old predecessor can keep up with newer top models in this area. Sound-wise, Bose wants to improve its product with its own technology meant to provide deep and clear sound.
In addition to ANC, a hear-through mode should be included, in which the user can listen to surroundings thanks to built-in microphones. An active equaliser that depends on the volume is also supposed to be on board.
Longer battery life
According to WinFuture, Bose promises a better battery meant to last for 24 hours. The predecessor could go for 20, which is rather short compared to other models. Some headphones can keep on working for up to 45 hours. The charging port will be USB Type-C – the previous model still had a micro-USB port.
A quick-charging function will provide the battery with juice for about 2.5 hours in 15 minutes. The model will probably use Bluetooth 5.1. If the battery is empty, users should still be able to listen to music thanks to a 3.5 mm jack. We still don’t know which Bluetooth codec will be used.
It’s also unclear whether the battery is permanently installed or whether it can be replaced – a replaceable battery would be desirable for environmental and economic reasons.
A release sometime around December
According to several rumours, Bose will officially introduce the headphones soon. However, the launch isn’t scheduled until December. The retail price has also been leaked; it should cost you $329 in the US.

Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
