Apple iPod touch 7th Gen
32 GB
After almost four years, Apple has updated the iPod touch. Visually, however, everything remains the same. The changes are on the inside and extend the possibilities for using the music and video player.
Apple is now equipping the iPod touch with the A10 Fusion chipset. This is also found in the iPhone 7 and is therefore not the most powerful chipset from Cupertino. Compared to the previous iPod touch, however, the performance is said to be doubled and the graphics three times faster.
With the new hardware, the new iPod touch should now also be ready for group calls with Facetime and support ARKit. This means you can now also run augmented reality apps on the iPhone without the phone function. Apple is also touting the iPod touch as a gaming device. In line with Apple Arcade, the company's own gaming platform, which is set to launch in autumn.
To make sure you don't run out of storage space, Apple is now also offering the iPod touch with 256 gigabytes of memory - in addition to the 32 and 128 gigabyte versions. The other features, which include a four-inch display, the home button, an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.2-megapixel front camera, remain unchanged. iOS is still used as the software.
The recommended retail price for the new iPod touch is 229, 339 or 449 euros, depending on the memory configuration. In Switzerland, the prices are 249, 369 and 489 francs. In terms of colour, you can choose between pink, silver, space grey, gold, blue and the Product Red special edition.
When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
