Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro presented: Wear OS and 65 hours of battery life

With the Watch 2 Pro, Xiaomi is using Wear OS for a smartwatch for the first time. This gives it a better connection to all Android smartphones - regardless of the manufacturer.
Wear OS gives the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro access to Google Maps, the Google Assistant and Google Wallet as well as apps from the Play Store. These services and applications were previously missing from Xiaomi's wearables.
One size in two colours
The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has a diameter of 46 millimetres. Its AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels measures 1.43 inches. You can operate it using the touchscreen or the rotating crown on the side. The stainless steel case is available in black and silver. There is of course a choice of materials and colours for the straps. Xiaomi is starting with leather and plastic.

The LTE version of the watch can also be used for phone calls without a smartphone nearby thanks to its microphones. Both versions of the smartwatch have dual-band GPS for precise positioning. This is also used for some of the more than 150 sports that the Watch 2 Pro can track. The same applies to the measurement of heart rate and blood oxygen. The smartwatch can also monitor your sleep and analyse your body, including measuring your body fat.

The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 and its battery is said to last up to 65 hours. However, Xiaomi did not reveal whether this only applies in ultra power-saving mode or is a reasonably realistic runtime. One small gimmick that does not benefit the battery life is the so-called "dynamic watch faces". These adapt their display to your arm movements.
Price and availability
The colleagues from the category are still in the process of making the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro available here. Until then, you will have to make do with the recommended retail price in euros. These are 269 euros for the Bluetooth version and 329 euros for the LTE version of the smartwatch.

As a primary school pupil, I used to sit in a friend's living room with many of my classmates to play the Super NES. Now I get my hands on the latest technology and test it for you. In recent years at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, now at Digitec and Galaxus.
