Product details
The ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G Gaming has a base clock of 1,670 MHz. With GPU Boost 3.0, this can be increased to a boost clock of 1,809 MHz if required.
The ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G Gaming can switch to "OC" mode via the GPU Tweak II software. The OC mode increases the base clock to 1,695 MHz and the boost clock to 1,835 MHz. The memory clock is 5,005 MHz (effectively 10,010 MHz) MHz. A semi-passive cooling design in the "STRIX version" is used for cooling the graphics card.
With the DirectCU III cooler design from ASUS, the copper heatpipes lie directly on the graphics chip. The heat dissipated on aluminium fins is swirled by three fans. If the graphics chip is not being fully utilised and requires less cooling, the fans are turned down or switched off completely. This allows the graphics card to operate as quietly as possible.
Up to two PWM case fans can be connected to the graphics card via two 4-pin fan connectors. This makes it possible to adjust the rotation speed of the PWM case fans to the temperature of the pixel accelerator. Since the graphics chip usually generates more heat than the CPU when gaming, this solution can ensure better ventilation of the case.
The grey-black cooler cover is equipped with RGB LED lighting. Together with the RGB illuminated Strix logo on the backplate, the Strix graphics card is stylishly set in scene. The RGB LEDs are controlled via the Aura lighting technology. This can also be found on various ASUS mainboards. Some of these mainboards even have connections for RGB LED strips, which then provide the lighting in harmony with the mainboard and graphics card.
