Product details
The ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G Gaming features a base clock of 1,670 MHz. With GPU Boost 3.0, this can be increased to a boost clock of 1,809 MHz when needed. The ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G Gaming can switch to "OC" mode via the GPU Tweak II software. In OC mode, the base clock is raised to 1,695 MHz and the boost clock to 1,835 MHz. The memory clock is set at 5,005 MHz (effectively 10,010 MHz). For cooling, the STRIX version utilizes a semi-passive cooling design.
In ASUS's DirectCU III cooler design, the copper heat pipes make direct contact with the graphics chip. The heat is dissipated through aluminum fins and is circulated by three fans. If the graphics chip is not fully loaded and requires less cooling, the fans can be slowed down or completely turned off. This allows for quieter operation of the graphics card.
Up to two PWM case fans can be connected to the graphics card via two 4-pin fan connectors. This enables the fan speed of the PWM case fans to be adjusted according to the temperature of the graphics processor. Since the graphics chip typically generates more heat than the CPU during gaming, this solution ensures better ventilation of the case.
The gray-black cooler cover is equipped with RGB LED lighting. Together with the RGB-lit Strix logo on the backplate, the Strix graphics card is stylishly showcased. The control of the RGB LEDs is managed through Aura lighting technology, which is also found on various ASUS motherboards. Some of these motherboards even have connectors for RGB LED strips, allowing for synchronized lighting with the motherboard and graphics card.
