The VIRB is an extremely rugged 1080p HD action camera with enhanced HD video and user-friendly features.
You can set up recordings, play back videos, and adjust menu settings via the display without having to remove the camera from its mount. Recording starts when you push the large slider forward.
HDMI, burst photos: 6 fps, Full HD, time-lapse photos (seconds): 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30, 60, ANT+™ compatibility, temperature range: -15 °C to 60 °C.

Die Garmin VIRB verzichtet gegenüber der VIRB Elite auf die Track-Aufzeichnung per GPS. Kamera-Funktionen und Videoqualität sind dagegen identisch, und so überzeugt auch die VIRB mit natürlichen Bildern. Als Spezialist für Navis versieht der Hersteller die Action Cam mit allerlei Funktionen wie einem Höhen- oder Herzfrequenzemsser. Das Display ist gut abzulesen solange genügend Umgebungslicht vorhanden ist und auch die Software ist üppig. Allerdings benötigt die Cam doch recht lange bis sie startklar ist und die Halterungen sind proprietär.
Annehmbar. Einfache Action-Cam vom Navi-Spezialisten Garmin. Klein und gut tragbar. Liefert annehmbare Videos und Fotos, bei wenig Licht etwas düster. Gute Bildstabilisierung. Ton nur mäßig: Bässe und Höhen beschnitten. Unterwassergehäuse gegen Aufpreis (zirka 40 Euro) bis 50 Meter Wassertiefe.
Im Gegensatz zur Edition Elite, verzichtet die Virb auf das Tracking per GPS, wobei allerdings die Bildqualität ebenso gut ausfällt wie beim Schwestermodell. Die Farben wirken natürlich und die Bedienung ist recht einfach. Allerdings ist der Akku nur mäßig leistungsstark.
