The second generation of the Motorola Moto G is tested as a solid mid-range smartphone. It has good GPS and navigates well, it is easy to operate and has good endurance. The camera, however, is not optimal, and there are better music players on the market.
The Motorola Moto G (2nd gen.) is a satisfactory, stable Android smartphone with a good, very large, very high-resolution display. Weak network sensitivity. The adequate camera delivers weak photos in normal and low light and weak videos. No headphones included. GPS tracking with internet connection works very quickly...
We only discovered the second generation of the Motorola Moto G (previous model see KONSUMENT 10/2014) in Austria via mail order. The 5-inch device now runs the latest Android "Lollipop" (tested version: 5.0.2). The Moto G is not a top model and does not support LTE, but it can convince with its good display and processor speed...
The verdict on the second-generation Motorola Moto G is satisfactory. The smartphone has a fairly decent battery, the operation is comparatively fluent and the quality of the display can also be rated as good. However, a willingness to compromise is required, especially with regard to the features.
The street price of under 180 euros without a contract has remained similar, but the features have been optimised: The Motorola Moto G2 has significantly more to offer than its predecessor. The 5-inch touchscreen is a full 26 per cent larger than that of the first Moto G, the internal memory of 8 gigabytes can be expanded by up to 128 gigabytes using a micro-SD card, and the Moto G 2 can manage two...
- Good working speed
- Ready for Android 5.0
- Dual SIM and microSD
- Weak camera
- No LTE, no NFC
The 2nd generation Moto G also proves to be a good value smartphone when tested. However, we do not see the new size of 5 inches as added value, and the camera and display have not been decisively improved. The new Moto G is no more than an XL version of its successful predecessor.
