times larger than conventional compact camera sensors. The TZ101 is therefore predestined for low-noise shots even under difficult lighting conditions as well as for images with low depth of field.
The Lumix TZ101 features a 25mm ultra-wide angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens with powerful 10x zoom (25-250mm KB). It offers typical Leica image quality and is the first lens of the TZ series with an initial aperture of F2.8. The optical image stabilizer OIS also contributes to this. On five axes, it counteracts practically any camera-guided hand shake.
Exceptional 4K photo and video features:
The Lumix TZ101 enables the recording of high-quality 4K videos with four times the resolution of Full-HD. But photographers also benefit from the strengths of 4K technology. With the 4K Photo function, they simply separate the perfect moment from 4K shots at 30 fps - for example exactly the fraction of a second in which the fingers touch the water surface during the dive. The desired single image is saved as a JPEG photo with 8 megapixel resolution: to print, share and marvel again and again.
Another 4K function, Post-Focus, enables focus determination after shutter release. When shooting in 4K resolution, the camera detects up to 49 focus planes from near to far. Then simply touch the area of the image to be focused and save the image with the desired focal plane as an 8-megapixel JPEG. Alternatively, several focus planes can be selected and subsequently joined together to form a larger focus stacking area (available separately).
The TZ101 films fast-moving subjects in high-speed video mode at 100 fps and full HD resolution. Time-lapse and stop motion are further video specialities of Lumix.
Perfect control with integrated viewfinder and touch screen monitor:
The Lumix TZ101 has an integrated viewfinder with eye sensor for safe and convenient image control. Back in the TZ series is the touch monitor including direct touch autofocus positioning and touch triggering. For better control, the focus field can be enlarged simply by multi-touch operation. The touch screen also offers a very convenient way to determine the sharpness of the post-focus function.
Faster response through hybrid contrast AF:
A linear motor that works together with the fast hybrid contrast AF system with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology* is integrated for fast focusing. It calculates the distance to the subject 240 times per second. This is done by evaluating two images with different levels of focus, taking into account the data coming from the lens. This gives the TZ101 a super-fast AF time of just 0.1 seconds**. This advantage becomes more and more noticeable with increasing focal length.
