Reviews & Ratings
The Pro-Ject convinces with clean workmanship, a very quiet motor and a carbon fibre tonearm with Ortofon cartridge. The sound is finely differentiated.
Purist design. Powerful sound. Manual operation, belt drive. Inconvenient: The playback speed can only be set blindly, for shellac records you have to change the drive belt. Untypical anti-skating construction. Sensitive to impact sound.
- simple construction
- Motor practically inaudible
- Detailed and very musical sound
- English assembly instructions only
With the Debut Carbon EVO, Pro-Ject delivers a perfect turntable in an extremely attractive price range. For 500 euros, more analogue sound and a better music experience is currently unimaginable for us. Moreover, it is very beginner-friendly and thus ideally suited for vinyl lovers of the new generation. But this record player will also surprise connoisseurs 100 per cent.
The emperor, the super-seller, gets new clothes. That could go wrong. But Pro-Ject shows its mastery. This is a great record player for a humane price. Nowhere a weakness. Even the difficult choice of the right cartridge can be called a success. Convincing in all values.
- appealingly lively, dynamic and balanced sound
- Feet slip on smooth surfaces
- somewhat sensitive to impact sound
Even chronic complainers have to search a long time before they find something to criticise about the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo. What is listed under minus in the audiogram is irrelevant for normal music listening. Who jumps around in front of the player or pokes him indecently? For me, the DCE is definitely one of the best turntables in its price class.
