AVM FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE International
AVM FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE International
I have the Int. and it works great with Salt SIM (17.50.-/month)! Plug it in, wait 15 minutes, configure the wifi and everything works great.
They see that correctly. This model supports a maximum of 4G+. As far as I know, AVM has a 5G model in the pipeline.
I was of the opinion that it would be recognised. But because of the many outages with UPC, I switched completely to LTE. Salt Unlimited Surf for 20.- per month. Bandwidth mostly around 50 Mbit, sometimes up to 100 and more. I'm already eagerly awaiting the 5G model :)
Thank you for reporting this! As far as I can see, this has been corrected in the meantime. :-)
Does the sim card also have phone function or is it a pure data sim card?
Yes, there is no built-in SIM card, you have to insert one (slot on the back). Digitec IoT, for example, works perfectly.
The device can be used throughout Europe, so it works in Austria and Switzerland as well as in other countries.
At AVM, announcements should never be taken very precisely. They are still very accurate when it is only +6 months. On-time market launch is when it is in 1H 21. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2H 21. At the moment there is also a shortage of electronic components. https://www.computerbase.de/2021-02/fritz-box-6850-5g-lte-marktstart-avm/

With the current SW 7.13 you can combine. However, each connection selects either DSL or LTE. There are (web) applications with multiple connections or connections that are established/disestablished in quick succession. These applications then see the LTE IP and the DSL IP - usually a different one. The result is that, for example, logins are lost and you have to log in "a thousand times". For example, my health insurance portal or the digitec.ch order page is not usable this way. So either DSL or LTE with the other as a fallback (backup) works perfectly. The part has two antenna connections (you can see this in the technical data).
The SIM card can easily be inserted and removed (the slot is accessible from the outside and not hidden somewhere inside), so you can easily move it back and forth between the mobile phone and the FritzBox. I am not aware that you can make phone calls with the SIM card. As far as I have seen, the FritzBox presents itself as a "normal" telephone exchange, regardless of how the Internet connection was established (DSL, WAN port or 4G). To make a phone call, you need a landline or VoIP account and either a "normal" phone (connected by cable or DECT), a VoIP phone or a VoIP client on your mobile or computer. I would ask the question to AVM support, they are very helpful and may be able to clarify this.
As far as I know, it is not yet possible. AVM had once hinted that it might be added with a future firmware.
I wanted to put this box into operation in my home in Italy. All attempts failed to set up IP telephony without errors. I have returned the box. Unfortunately, I cannot help any further.
AVM FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE is connected directly via LTE, I use phoneStar as SIP gateway. I also use Swisscom as my mobile phone provider. The DECT phone is connected directly to the AVM FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE via FON 1. The setup has been running perfectly for 12 months.
Yes, you can. If the DSL fails, LTE takes over. LTE only / DSL only is also possible.
I use the 6890 LTE with Yallo. Yallo belongs to Sunrise. Should be alo zie.lixh safe. Greetings.
Good product..Works without interruptions. Regular SW updates from the manufacturer....
Which Swiss competition do you mean exactly? I have now briefly compared the prices online and the item actually seems well priced for me.
The box configures the settings for Swisscom Mobile independently. Port forwarding can be set manually as usual in the router menu or independently for individual devices. For external access, you need Swisscom CAA or CNA. According to my information, however, Swisscom will no longer offer CAA in the future and CNA is an expensive pleasure.
Hello, Yes I use this router together with a Sunrise SIM card for my Internet access at home and it works wonderfully. I live a bit out of the way so I can't use ADSL or Cablecom.
What do you mean? On radio band 1 +3 at the same time. I bought this fritzbox some time ago and would never give it away again. Absolutely top in terms of security. I only use it as a lte router and have already had several routers and find it simply ingenious for exactly this application.
I use both a Gigaset DECT phone and a Fritz DECT phone with the 6890. I only use VoIP, but with providers other than Swisscom. But based on my experience, I assume that their setting will work.
Yes, this is possible. You need an antenna with an SMA connection.
