The length plays a subordinate role, but the sockets on the ground floor and first floor are probably not connected to the same phase.

You have a 1 Gbit line at home and achieve around 500-700 Mbps via WiFi, which is enough for you. The Devolo Magic 1 WiFi mini Starter Kit offers a transmission speed of up to 1200 Mbps, which should be enough to fulfil your requirements. The Magic 1 should therefore be sufficient for your needs as it offers a higher speed than what you currently need.

The devolo Magic 1 WiFi, including the Mini Starter Kit, uses Powerline technology to transmit data via the electrical wiring in your home. This technology is designed to work even when the adapters are connected to sockets in different parts of the house, including through electrical panels. In general, electrical panels should not interrupt the Powerline signal, as the G.hn technology used by devolo operates on the low and medium frequencies of electrical cables, allowing reliable transmission through most domestic electrical installations. However, it is important to note that specific conditions, such as particular switches or fuses, could potentially affect signal quality. But in most cases, the devolo Magic 1 WiFi system should work fine even with an electrical panel between the two sockets.
Automatically generated from the .I can't answer the performance question. But the difference between "Mini" and "Normal" is simple. Mini" is an adapter without an additional socket function. Therefore it is smaller. It is recommended where no socket is needed.
This has a higher potential Max. data transfer rate (1200 Mbit/s vs. 500 Mbit/s)
everything works perfectly for me
Hello David Simon92, the Devolo Kit is connected to the router and opens a second WLAN. But you don't have to switch off the first one. You can simply select the same SSID and password, then your devices switch automatically...
This product works without extensions. The prerequisite is simply an existing network (LAN) or a modem/router with LAN cable connection. Alternatives that are cheaper are also available, e.g. TP-Link TL-WPA4220 KIT (Digitec article: 21254171).
With the Devolo Magic 1 Wifi you can expand your network very well. With one transmitter I now have two additional rooms.
You would need one of these in the hallway (connected to your router) and one in the living room to make full use of its functionality. You want a Wi-Fi extender or similar instead, this isn’t that.
No, only the 2 square boxes are equipped with WiFi. And I could not connect them to my DLan 500... so I assume it is a different technology and therefore incompatible.
(Found the answer, it connects through powerline and improves your existing mesh network. (en) I've answered my own question: it connects through powerline technology and improves your existing mesh network.
Yes, this works without any problems. It is described on the Devolo page in the compatibility section.
I have bought 3 Devolo Magic incl. Mini WFI and I always have interruptions in the WFI to the Swisscom Internet Box 2 when I move around the house. I have now bought the Swisscom Box 2 and deactivated the Devolo and now it works perfectly. So I can't really recommend Powerline Devolo. Whether old or magic.
By misleading, do you mean that the advertised 1200 Mbps cannot effectively be used? That's part marketing and part principle due to Powerline itself. Data transmission over normal power cables is usually one of the most stupid ways to transmit data. Since power cables are not designed to transmit data, especially not at the speeds required today, the difference between gross and net is getting bigger and bigger. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datendurchsatz Since all types of data transmission (Ethernet, Wlan, LTE, etc) specify the transmission types in gross, it is not misleading to advertise Powerline with the theoretical gross speed of 1200 Mbps. Another counter-example. How can it be that Swisscom advertises its Wlan Box 2 as being able to transmit 4800Mbps via Wlan? That is almost 5 times faster than via network cable. So why don't they just pull out all the cables and only do everything via wifi...? Swisscom WLAN-Box 2 (4800Mbit/s, 300Mbit/s)
The size, number of ports, transmission speed of wlan, wlan versions, power consumption...
I also have Swisscom, the modem works independently of the Devolo network. Everything worked for me according to the instructions.
Well, you can have several Devolos in the power grid. Then the power is distributed. And the power grid probably produces many errors in the signal, so that data packets have to be sent several times. That's why the higher speed makes sense. I have also replaced the 500 with Magic 1. It works fine. However, one point to bear in mind is the power-saving mode. When it is active, it can take up to a minute for the signal to flow. I have deactivated it where devices need to be connected quickly.
Yes, that works. However, I have noticed that the time switch does not work correctly with some Android devices. That is, WLAN remains on as long as the corresponding Android device is logged in. Even if this option is explicitly deactivated. What works here is a combined time switch. I have configured the Android device causing the problem separately via the parental control. This forcibly logs off the device and shortly afterwards the rule that generally switches off the WLAN takes effect.
I have unfortunately ordered the WiFi mini which is incompatible with all the others, to see. There is only the magic 2 which passes... well, I think so, considering the hell of the devolo which gives no information anywhere... Great 4 days to get it for telecommuting in confined spaces.... I'm angry at their false advertising that all and compatible my eye. I'm thinking of selling all my devolos and getting another brand.
