So I would like to say: You should actually also write what comes with the DVD drive, e.g. what kind of USB cable: with only one port or with two in case you need more power. I bought it and wasn't sure if the drive needed only one USB port. But it does. It also comes with a CD of Nero. But unfortunately it is only a trial version :-(

Reading more or less worked. I could also write sometimes, but in most cases Mac did not recognise the empty disc. Compatibility with PC is definitely better.

Just bought it last week. It comes with a USB cable connector so if you have a USB port on your Mac mini you shouldn't need an adaptor (sorry don't know anything about Mac mini).
