The Powerplay also works without problems through thicker mousepads, I have mine under an LTT deskpad and it works without problems, others have also embedded it in the table top... see youtube videos on the topic
I'd try contacting Logitech directly. There's probably a free replacement. https://support.logi.com/hc/de-ch/requests/new?ticket_form_id=
It is the Logitech G G903 Lightspeed (wired, wireless)

The Logitech G Powerplay wireless charging pad is compatible with certain Logitech G mice, but not with all models. For compatibility with your Logitech G Pro mouse, here is some important information: - Powerplay support is primarily intended for models such as G502 Lightspeed, G903 Lightspeed, PRO Wireless, and PRO X Superlight 2. - The Logitech G Pro mouse is not explicitly mentioned in the lists of compatible mice. To ensure that your mouse is compatible, you should consult the official Logitech G website or the documentation for your mouse to check the specific compatibility requirements. If your mouse is not listed in the compatible models, it is likely that it will not work with Powerplay technology.

I had the same problem and ordered this one back then: Logitech G G440. Have a look at it, it might be the right one for you too...
The mouse will charge up to 95% and once you reach 80% it will charge up to 95 again.
I've had it a few months longer and everything is fine...so I think warranty case.
1) To quote from the product information: Powerplay compatible: wireless models of the G502 X support Logitech G POWERPLAY wireless charging mats, which offer unlimited battery life without the need for a cable. Otherwise, the mouse is charged via an included USB-C cable. 2) Technically, you can read through numerous tests online. Personally, I pay particular attention to the fact that the mouse feels good in my hand.
Yes, I have a G502 Lightspeed myself. Works :)

Yes
2-3mm - a CR2032 is thicker (it's lying around on the table here) - if your RGB mat is not too thick, I don't see a problem.
No, there has been no recall. I suspect that, as with all other hardware parts, there were bottlenecks in production.
The system is proprietary, and the mouse also requires the "G-disc" from Logitech. Therefore no.
Hardly anyone from the community can say that here. But if this model is no longer produced, there will certainly be a successor.
We still offer this product for sale; it is still in our assortment. However, as it is no longer in stock and we do not have a supply date from the supplier, we have withdrawn the possibility to order it. It is therefore possible that we will receive stock, but we do not know when at the moment.
