Brother Mfc-L8690cdw
Laser, Colour
Replaces my 5 year old Brother DCP-9055CDN.
Brilliant printer. New to me is the rapid duplex scanning, which scans both sides simultaneously in one pass, which of course can be printed double-sided. Using continuous scanning, entire batches of documents can be digitized in a very short time, on one or both sides. Saving is possible in 17 different formats (including JPEG, PDF (single or multi-page, also searchable), Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx), although the latter is only of limited use, since formulas cannot be captured, of course).

Very good product, simple and effective use of SME!
Duplex scanning was the main criterion with good and fast print quality when copying. This is a requirement that only few printers in a moderate price range can meet.
The fact that the printer received top ratings in various tests in previous years confirms the above-average quality. Only copying or scanning of documents with marker colours (text marks) are not outstanding, but still well recognisable. This is a shortcoming that many scanners/printers have.

Everything is running smoothly!
Printer is quite okay. Scan and print quality is good. Unfortunately, I kept having problems when scanning via the USB. It kept failing to recognize the USB stick. Since it was a loaner, I could live with it. When scanning, the scanned sheets are pushed over the edge of the printer when ejected and fall to the floor. Troublesome! You can flip open a flap to keep the sheets from falling to the floor. However, the flap is too far over the edge of the printer, so that you have to touch the flap every time, which causes the flap to fall off.
Note: If you get second hand devices, I would be very careful. Most of the time they have a quirk. Like this printer, for example, the USB port didn't work properly. I also just returned a Kyocera M5526cdw Ecosys (WLAN, Laser/LED, color, duplex printing) printer. The scan was unusable. Digitec took it back as a "non-defective product" at a 10% discount, even though it still doesn't scan properly after being repaired. See my comment under this product.

For a long time I have been looking for a laser printer that can scan and print double-sided and is also affordable for private use. Scanning directly to a NAS also works wonderfully. It has a good menu and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. These and other features unite this multifunction device. So far I am very satisfied with the device.
