It was also with me so that the sound was too quiet and that after each reboot.
In this case you have to download the X-Plus Configurator and follow the instructions.
Simply select the Generic profile.
After that the problem is solved.
The X Plus Configurator can be downloaded here

I finally found a solution for this problem !!! I also had the problem that the Creative Sound BlasterX G1 didnt save the configurations I made after Windows restart / reboot.
In a forum from a few years ago I read about "X-Plus Configurator (G1)" Software (just google it for download)! You have to install X-Plus Configurator and it detects your Creative Sound BlasterX G1. You then have the possibility to upload the 'Generic' configuration on to your Sound BlasterX G1. Don't forget to really plug-out the divice for a few seconds after uploading the generic profile. This enables that the Sound BlasterX G1 now uses the configuration from Sound BlasterX acoustic engine you made before.

Since my 3.5mm headset connection on the computer produced noise in the background and I had to struggle with poor microphone quality, I bought this USB sound card. It solved the problem wonderfully.

The software does not start with Windows, so it has to be started manually each time. Finding the right driver is a game of chance. Creative used to be a very good choice for sound cards, but maybe that only applies to internal cards. Unfortunately, due to the size of my graphics card, I only have access to an external sound card. What a pity...
