I operate the Reflecta scanner with Silverfast software. This software fully exploits the possibilities of the scanner. I have not tested Reflecta's "in-house" software. You have to take your time at the beginning to achieve optimal scan results; also, you should not underestimate the training time for the software and the settings. If you have prepared and familiarised yourself well, the results are first class. According to test reports, the Reflecta scanner is hardly inferior to the top model from Nikon (unfortunately no longer available for years).

Very good 35mm film scanner. I bought Silverfast 8 to go with it, but the result of Silverfast on Portra is very ugly. So I scan the negative in Raw and convert it with Negative Lab Pro which is excellent. In fact I think that Silverfast is not necessary.
the scanner is great.

A good, recommendable product.
For photos (without film or slides) an additional flatbed scanner must be used.
Cyber ViewX is less suitable. The SilverFast 9 programme with automatic and good scanning results is recommended.

After trying cheap scanners, DIY DSLR scanning, then Plustek 8200i, I decided to buy this unit for its automated film strip scanning and high resolution.
Most important: image quality exceeds everything I have known so far.
Automatic scanning of entire film strips is a great time saver. But when the spacing between frames is irregular (due to poor frame advancing mechanics of cameras...), you will often need to manually adjust the positioning of individual frames. This can be done quickly with practice on the fly while batch scanning or by scanning frames individually...
Auto-focus works well. You can choose if needed, auto-focus point manually in your software preview.
The included software is useless. But I already had Vuescan pro for raw scan + PSE for edits. Otherwise, you would need to pay extra premium to get the suitable Silverfast software...

Due to the automatic scanning of whole negative strips, you don't have to be there the whole time while scanning and have time for other things. The included software is ok, but doesn't deliver the maximum quality compared to Silverfast 8 - and that's what you want after all with all the effort. It's a pity that Reflecta can't bring themselves to deliver the device with Silverfast 8 (at this price).
