I had a Google Pixel 6a from 2022-2024. Before that, I was already a long-standing customer of Sony smartphones.
The main reason for me to switch was the battery life, which varied between 5h and 55h with the Pixel 6a (depending on patches/updates from Google). I have had the Xperia 10 VI for 4 days and so far the battery life makes a good impression (only 100% charged once, although it was used intensively during the initial setup).
For me, the (micro)SD card expansion and the fingerprint sensor on the side by the power button are of course positive features (more reliable than the display fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6a).
On the other hand, there are some software-related drawbacks: No "Always on Display" (tap the screen twice to switch on),
As of 26/06/2024, the mobile was delivered with security patches from February 2024 (and no update available yet) and other "little niceties" that I had become accustomed to with the Pixel 6a (and its Android).
Update 28.06.2024: The mobile has now received the security patches for June 2024. I'm still leaving the negative point in because Sony were rarely the fastest with updates. If it changes, I'll adjust my rating again.
The display format is slightly better for me, who sometimes reads things on my smartphone. The smartphone is also just barely in the category of "usable with one hand" (i.e. narrow enough despite the protective cover). Fortunately, the Pixel 6a was still in that category.
Camera: So far I've only had to take a photo of one document for the health insurance company, but it was subjectively much better than the Pixel 6a.
Audio: I haven't carried out a detailed test yet
The pre-installed apps seemed rather restrained to me.
A long-term test is still missing, but so far I am satisfied with the smartphone.

Berf, a very good device for pragmatic users.
Moderately suitable for "super-connected" users.

The Sony Xperia 10 VI is a solid smartphone with a jack connection and space for a microSD. Its battery is extremely long-lasting and the performance mid-range. This is enough for an average day, although with games you have to accept compromises in graphic settings. At 60 Hz, the refresh rate is noticeably lower than in comparable smartphones.
The Sony Xperia 10 VI is a trusty companion for taking decent photos in good weather. What’s really disappointing are the short update periods, which only stretch to a maximum of four years. All in all, the price point is quite high with this in mind.
There’s strong competition when it comes to photos and performance, but not in other areas. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy A55 offers a good triple camera, smoother scrolling thanks to 120 Hz and longer update periods. Nonetheless, you’d have to do without a jack and IP-68 protection. The battery also runs out eight hours sooner on the Galaxy A55 than on the Xperia 10 VI.

I bought my very first smartphone in 2018 for business reasons. It was a compact 4.6-inch Sony Xperia XZ1 and it ran smoothly until it got a bit slow in 2024, 6 years of loyal service (and it still runs great!).
So I would have liked to find a Sony smartphone with the same screen size, or even another Android brand, but all I could find was the Asus Zenfone. But the Asus Zenfone was far too powerful and therefore too expensive for my basic expectations: battery life, decent photos, compact size, jack, dual Sim and, above all, a micro SD card slot. In fact, the Sony Xperia is virtually the only one on the market to meet these criteria.
After 3 months of use, I can say that I'm completely satisfied, apart from the size, which is a bit big for me. 5 inches should be the maximum. Finally, the thing that has changed my life the most on this new Xperia model is the fingerprint sensor on the right-hand side, which works extremely well and allows you to quickly unlock a number of banking and other applications.
So I'd highly recommend this phone to people looking for a functional phone with good value for money. I don't play games on a smartphone, at most I read the newspaper and watch the occasional video, so processors, OLED screens and other Hertz numbers matter little to me, if at all, as they often consume more battery.

The missing LED display is very annoying, as the mobile has to be opened again and again to check whether a message has arrived.

Needed a new mobile phone because the old one no longer received all the updates. Already had 2 Sony Xperia before that. So this is my third Sony. Reasonably priced for under CHF 400.
