The picture quality of the Samsung is hard to beat at a price of 550 euros: the TU8079 reproduces colours with almost official accuracy, the contrast is in the green zone beyond 5000:1, and the brightness of a good 300 candela per square metre is appropriate for the price range. Samsung's app selection is top-notch, including Apple TV and Sky Ticket in addition to the usual streaming providers...

If you are looking for the scene of the crime, you can get help from Alexa and Google, which already offer their services in affordable smart TVs. Beyond that, however, the voice assistants quickly reach their limits - which are particularly narrow in the case of Samsung. A good 600 euros is not enough for a good 65-incher, as Xiaomi showed in the test. If you don't want to spend more, you should leave it at 55 inches. Then you can get the Samsung for the same price, which is a better TV in every respect - in terms of picture and sound quality, features and usability...
