Product details

Due to the F1.8 open aperture the Samyang 20mm full format lens is the ideal companion for astro and landscape photography and guarantees good results even in low light conditions. Furthermore, the Samyang 20 mm F1.8 ED AS UMC impresses with its freehand qualities. The object in focus is skilfully highlighted while (at open aperture) the background is immersed in a wonderfully soft bokeh. So the perfect complement between 16mm and 24mm. Because this wide-angle lens for full format is not only suitable for indoor photography, but also for concerts, landscape and street photography.

Optical processing

Due to years of expertise in lens design, the development of a 20 mm full format lens was only a matter of time. The Samyang 20mm F1.8 ED AS UMC was equipped with the best optical technology that Samyang has to offer. The wide angle lens was coated with the Samyang typical Ultra Multi Coating. The combination of the coating, the two aspherical glass elements and the three "Extra Low Dispersion Lenses" reduces chromatic aberrations to a minimum and prevents unsightly light scatter. The glass construction consists of 13 lenses divided into 12 groups, ensuring sharp images from the centre to the edges.

7 aperture blades provide an almost circular bokeh when the aperture is open, while crystal clear star-shaped lights appear when the aperture is closed. The lens has a compact and robust design, making it an ideal companion, even when things get a little rough.
