Bei der HX 100 zeigt Sony die Leistungsfähigkeit moderner Automatiken und bietet ein Gerät ohne manuelle Einstellmöglichkeiten, bei dem aber auf alles Filmernotwendige geachtet wurde, sodass dennoch brauchbare bis gute Ergebnisse entstehen. Die Videoqualität ist der guter Camcorder ebenbürtig, zumal auch das zurzeit beste AVCHD-50p-Bildformat mit hoher Datenrate Verwendung findet.

Einzig die Auflösung lässt bei höher gewählten Empfindlichkeiten (ab ISO 800) deutlich zu Wünschen übrig.
