This powerful 50mm fixed focal length Zeiss lens features a large maximum aperture of F1.4, uniform contrast and spectacular resolution in every image. The large aperture simplifies shooting in low light
conditions and gives your images a beautiful bokeh thanks to an 11-blade aperture. Other benefits include fast, precise focusing and versatile photo and video control.
Two aspherical elements, consisting of an AA (Advanced Aspherical) element and ED glass elements, provide high resolution and image-wide uniform contrast. The F1.4 aperture and a circular aperture with 11 slats allow for beautiful bokeh photos, but also allow for a high shutter speed in low light conditions. An ultrasonic motor (Super Sonic wave Motor, SSM) system, with ring drive, enables fast and accurate positioning of the heavy focus group of the lens, thus getting the most out of high-resolution camera housings.
The control of the aperture is quite intuitive. A zoom lock switch allows you to activate and deactivate aperture stops on the aperture ring as needed. When shooting movies, it is recommended to DISABLE the f-stops, while tactile feedback is often helpful when shooting photos.
