Excellent optical performance throughout the zoom range

The optical design comprises 16 elements in 11 groups. A new wide aperture aspherical lens and lens elements with LD (low dispersion) provide exceptional resolution over the entire zoom range. The lens also corrects chromatic aberrations and distortions that are common with wide-angle lenses. This new ultra-wide-angle zoom has been completely redesigned and equipped with Tamron's unique Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coating. This improves light transmission and eliminates reflections and scatter on the lens surface to reduce stray light and ghosting. The result: clear, sharp images at all times.

With VC you let your gaze drift

Tamron's unique VC technology allows for great hand-held wide-angle shooting, even in low-light environments such as nighttime shooting or indoors. When shooting without a tripod, you can focus on the composition of the image without the risk of camera shake.

HLD meets high-precision AF

With this lens Tamron introduces the HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive) AF motor system. The excellent drive performance of the brand new HLD motors ensures stable and precise focusing, even with strong focusing lenses for the B023 model. In addition, the manual focus, which can be adjusted at any time, allows fine adjustments to be made without having to switch from autofocus to manual focus mode.

High performance in a compact housing

The shorter design improves the optical performance significantly - and this with further improvements such as VC and the newly developed HLD motor. Combined with an APS-C DSLR camera, this lens offers superior performance in a lightweight, portable package.
