This powerful F/2.8 telephoto zoom lens is equipped with Tamron's Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) motor for fast, silent autofocus. Vibration Compensation (VC) image stabilization reduces camera shake to
give you sharp, vivid images and hands-free shooting even in low-light conditions. Special XLD glass (Extra Low Dispersion) and four LD elements (Low Dispersion) reduce aberration and enable top-class image quality.
The new advanced optical design provides excellent contrast and impressive resolution, while the rounded aperture* gives you spectacular blur effects. The sophisticated lens design is also splash-proof. Outstanding image quality
The optical design of this lens uses a high performance XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) element made of special glass materials with an extremely low colour dispersion index. This indicates the ability of the glass to break down a light beam into its spectral colours. The scattering properties are even lower than with standard LD lenses and correspond approximately to the value of fluorites. The XLD lens in combination with the L D element provides the highest contrast and brilliance.
This effectively prevents chromatic aberration, which is problematic in telephotography, and ensures maximum sharpness even in the peripheral areas. The result is a lens that effectively compensates for longitudinal chromatic aberrations and axial magnification errors in the entire zoom range and guarantees the highest resolution and brilliance for your images.
