Die beiden 70-300-Millimeter-Zooms von Canon und Tamron kosten 525 beziehungsweise 310 Euro. Das Canon löst etwas höher auf und zeigt weniger Gegenlichtreflexe als das Tamron.
Insgesamt ist das Objektiv wohl ein guter Kompromiss, denn gemessen am Preis macht das Objektiv seinen Job recht solide und zuverlässig. Lediglich im Telebereich zeigt es deutliche Schwächen, was aber nicht heißt, dass das Objektiv schlecht sei.
