Question about ZTE MU5001

Can someone please share their impressions of the Wi-Fi range here? Netgear's competitors, for example, advertise a WLAN coverage of 100m2 with their overpriced products. How does that look with the MU5001? Does it still have a WLAN connection two rooms away, or does the connection break off quickly? Can the WLAN signal be additionally amplified as with the Netgear mobile routers (at the expense of battery life)? Thank you for any feedback.

Helpful answer

Thanks for the feedback. I have now bought the router from digitec and in the dashboard you can set the WLAN range to short, medium or high.

I live in the same house as my girlfriend, but she is 2 flats away from me and I still have a very good connection there, which is a bit crap, the battery life but I have the device constantly on the cable, at the beginning it gets a bit hot but when you are in an airy place where the sun does not shine on it, it stays very cool.

I don't know anything about the wifi connection, but it is powerful, and depending on the internet supplier, everything works fine.

Signal cannot be amplified. I have a 100 square metre flat myself. Not enough Wi-Fi signal if the router is not in the middle of the flat.

I bought this device specifically to provide a 5G hotspot for a holiday home. I find the wifi range extremely disappointing. The signal doesn’t penetrate through two small bedrooms between the router location and the living room. We find ourselves constantly moving the hotspot to the room where it’s most needed. Also: if the 5G connectivity isn’t super strong you risk not getting much bandwidth on the Wifi. I would probably buy a different product today. Especially for that price tag.
