Can you also use them in an external housing? A NAS is overkill for my purposes, so I would like to use hard drives in an external enclosure (Icy Box IB-RD3640SU3) with RAID 5. Is this possible, does anyone have experience?

Unfortunately I can't edit my question, so I'll do it here. I saw that the enclosure only supports SATA 2, so I would be interested in the compatibility with Fantec QB-35US3R (3.5") (RAID 5).
