Dear reader I am looking for a tracker for my sleep phases. For falling asleep phase, deep sleep, REM phase. The tracker should measure accurately and as often as possible as an interval. As I want to wear it 24/7, I would like it to be as small as possible or at least lightweight. Of course it can also be a cheap version. I only need the sleep tracking. The AI suggested Huawei Band 8 and Xiaomi Smart Band 8. But I can't make a final decision. What are your general thoughts? Looking forward to reading from you <3 One of my problems is that I have trouble sleeping. I find it difficult to fall asleep. And when I do sleep, I often have nightmares. But I also find it very difficult to wake up from these dreams. As a result, I'm now afraid to fall asleep, which increases my difficulty sleeping. With the sleep tracker, I hope to gain more precise insights into my sleep behaviour and processes. And, of course, to change my sleep so that I can relax and look forward to sleep. Best regards Alexandra
If you want to track sleep phases reliably, this will probably be rather difficult with smartbands etc.. The "recognition" is mainly based on motion detection, pulse and prediction algorithms, as brain waves cannot be measured. I would recommend googling a few studies in which these devices are compared with polysomnography or similar. I don't find the results particularly convincing.
Perhaps a professional assessment in a sleep laboratory would be more helpful. There are also devices with which you can carry out an analysis at home.
I've had exactly the same problem for years, and I rarely sleep for more than 1½ hours at a time. As a result, I hardly ever reach the deep sleep phase.
I had previously tried a ring and it was at least able to tell me when I was in which sleep stage and for how long. That was helpful. Now I'm trying out this watch for the same thing.
Are you still interested in my experiences when I have some?
Greetings Urs
Hello
I have the Smart Band 8 from Xiaomi. I find the settings and tracking options for sport and sleep or displaying calls etc. very versatile. Sleep can also be recorded very "closely". I cannot judge the extent to which these analyses are medically reliable. The band can do much more than I need it to, but it's still small and light and the battery lasts about 10 days with my settings.
I hope this helps. Best regards Patrick
Hello Alexandra1993
As the previous writer told you, get professional advice.
Now to the sleep tracker. You can't get any great insights from the MiBand.
You can see from when to when you
- are awake
- are in the REM phase
- are in deep sleep
- are in light/core sleep
That's all you see.
