It makes no difference whether the signal comes via Toslink from a TV, a record player or a motherboard.
If "data" actually means "power", then it doesn't matter because it is active LS.

Oops, I have fundamentally misunderstood the subject matter. I completely overlooked or did not consider that these are active loudspeakers. :-)

The real question now is: can the speakers be used well on a PC or is it rather overkill?
