I currently use WD My Cloud Home only for our two PCs and it works wonderfully, automatically backing up all the data every day. However, I have controlled the backup via Windows10. I have no experience with the smartphone backup.

Answer

You can only back up videos and photos on the device, no other files. This also means no smartphone backups.
