Hello
No, there are no losses.
Simply connect the Arc to the HDMI eArc port and set it to passthroug in the audio menu on the TV.

I bought the player as an interim solution and would not recommend it - but I have to say that the price-performance ratio is just okay, but no more. The workmanship is cheap. Why I wouldn't recommend the player: With long films in 4K resolution, the computer is running at full speed and the picture can freeze now and then in the last third of the film (e.g. the film Dune in 4K is such a candidate). The way you want to do it with the acoustics, I can't say whether there are audio losses, because I have a completely different technology installed (short-distance projector on screen with a 3D 5.1 to 9.1 channel Audyssey DSX 2 technology (Dynamic Surround Expansion). Audyssey DSX 2 technology compensates for such losses 100%. To be honest, I don't know anything about other systems because I don't want anything other than what was installed in my room.

Just in case you're interested, the Audyssey DSX is a new system with improved surround effect, which gives the impression of a larger surround area by adding a new channel to the existing channel system.

Studies on the properties of human hearing have revealed two main points as elements to improve the surround effect. The most important point is to create a horizontal extension (wide-channel) in the front (forward-facing) area to create a realistic surround space. The second important point is to create a vertical extension (height channel) in the front (forward facing) area using recognisable (audible) acoustic signals to create a surround room with depth.

Audyssey DSX then creates height channels in pairs to represent the acoustic and perceptual signals with the second highest priority. In addition, Audyssey DSX doesn't just add a channel, it combines the existing front, rear and surround sound into a new technology called Surround Envelopment Processing, which is built into Audyssey DSX to further enhance the effect. Once you install something like this at home, you'll never get away from it - it's addictive - especially when you activate the 3D acoustics.
