I have connected the switch to a powerline adapter, the counterpart is connected to my UPC Connect Box. Connected to the switch is a PC running Ubuntu Server, an IKEA Tradfri Bridge and a USB-C hub to connect my iPad. I always access the server via SSH. In the past, without a switch (even with Powerline), this always worked reliably. Now, however, I can no longer access the IKEA Bridge and the server PC whenever I unplug the iPad. This is annoying, of course, because then I can't control my lights and my server doesn't work either. The lights on the switch continue to shine and the IKEA Bridge also shows that it has internet. But you can't reach it. The iPad always got internet when I plugged it in. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Could it be a faulty switch, a broken cable or something to do with my router?
Hello Crafter_89
Your question is a little difficult to answer from a distance. The best thing is to try to narrow down the problem. Since there were no problems with the Powerline and the router in the past, I would assume for the time being that there is not primarily a problem there. If I were you, I would take a laptop (turn off the WLAN on the laptop ;-) ) and plug it in and out of the free ports with a network cable. I think that this should not be a problem for the switch (I do this all the time with another TP-Link switch) and the laptop will have internet normally. If this plugging and unplugging worked, then it must almost be the iPad. An Apple professional might be able to help you find out whether the iPad has already caused problems here.
