No, it should work.
The monitor input is set to Displayport? (Some monitors do not switch automatically).
Plugged into the correct Displayport? (Monitors that support daisy chain also have a display port out; it doesn't work there).
Is the cable plugged in correctly? (Some cables are a bit stiff)
