I wanted to ask if this works for a Dell G5? Do I still need thermal pads?
I would not recommend liquid metal in a laptop. It can lead to short circuits or a defect in the CPU. The liquid metal becomes hard after a certain time and acts like a glue. In case of shocks, it can break off again and becomes ineffective.
In principle, it works everywhere where thermal paste is used, it is only important that there is an absolutely flat surface between the CPU and the heat sink, the liquid metal does not bridge "any" unevenness! I do not recommend it for notebooks, if it is not applied properly, excess can be pressed outwards, which can lead to short circuits if the pins are close together (liquid metal!) No additional pad is needed.
